Workshop

AI for Defence: Planning, Wargaming and Hands-On Simulation

Explore how AI can help defence leaders assess strategic options, plan operations and rehearse decisions under uncertainty.

This practical workshop introduces today’s command-and-control (C2) and battle management systems, including the roles of Palantir’s Maven Smart System, Gotham and Foundry. It examines applications of AI in defence planning, wargaming and net assessment, alongside the standards, data exchange and secure information sharing needed to connect NATO, national and coalition systems.

Drawing on Deep Sentrics’ work designing the curriculum for NATO Maven Smart System training, the session connects operational requirements with practical skills.

Participants explore how AI agents can assist scenario development, simulate actors, support exercise facilitation and contribute to after-action analysis, with human oversight throughout.

A guided walkthrough introduces Black Current, a mobile-first tabletop simulation available throughout the summit day. Participants can explore how decisions shape outcomes, trigger cascading effects and test operational resilience across adaptable scenarios.
